17
the earth trembles,
still water
moves.
16
shared laughter,
a father
remembered.
15
starry night,
Iowa
has a landscape.
14
melted in the frost,
a heart shaped
butt print.
(Happy Valentine's Day hugs to all!)
13
pulled out of retirement,
the jester's suit.
12
family and friends,
fun times come home
to sweep back shadows.
11
final breaths
draw in
love.
10
white shoes,
hardly worn -
I long to scuff them.
9
the bed's feet like hooves -
I wonder -
will it run?
8
cold details
heard in the hallway,
I shut the door.
7
I am still working on this - Ecclesiastes ch 5 vs 17, 18, 19
the Bible opens
itself.
6
empty flower baskets
packed away,
hospice.
5
cold days -
an autumn leaf
looks in.
4
winter winds rattle windows
beats on the door,
will spring come again?
3
tearing at shingles,
disturbing curtains -
winter moves in.
2
bestowed upon
raw earth,
a snow white mantle.
1
reaching long
across snowy fields,
shadows.
circling a yellow wrist
a watch
counts seconds.
the earth trembles,
still water
moves.

Keraness had me thinking about mantles with her journal entry here.... [link] The Qasida al-Burda is beautiful.....
I have been trying to keep up. I will be by today to look at what others are writing.
I am still here, even if my updating and commenting is not.

day 14: LOL, i'm not sure how the butt could make a heart-shaped print but i know its certainly possible.
day 12: more of a statement than a haiku. you could emphasize the particular thing that gives you the 'fun time' feel, say, smell of baked cakes/cookies, sound of chatting/laughter, gay deco in the house. the last line will then be duly qualified.
day 10: if you don't scuff your shoes sooner you'll have to scrap them.
day 7: the bible reference is interesting but the first line is toooo looong. this idea is certainly hard to put in a haiku form.
day 2: yet another beautiful way to describe the snow-covered ground. i like how you call the earth 'raw' such that it really need a coat.
more haiku this month of july please~!
